FASHION FRIDAY: 2/100 **HIGHLY FUCKIN COLLECTABLE//EXTREME FUTURE VINTAGE**

Fanny & Jess are two London-based designers whose debut collection ‘I Hope You Die Soon’ gets our award for ‘best name for a debut collection, ever.’ They just launched their new collection called ‘Vaniloquence’. Let’s talk to them!

Donald Crunk: Hi guys, what does Fashion mean to you?

FAJ: Fashion is: variety, changeable, tangible and experimental. Creating an image for yourself is fun.

DC:I’m thinking about my first question and it feels a bit lame. Do you think I could have had a better opener?

FAJ:Yes, it was lame. A better opener would have been ‘what do you get if you mix FAJ with Crunk?’

DC:What would say a combination like that would taste like?

FAJ:Mmmmmmmm… creamy.

DC: If you could adopt a new image what would it be?

FAJ:Clarence and Alabama from True Romance - American boulevard trash.

DC: Name 2 people in the public eye you think are sexy and stylish…

FAJ: Carolina Bambina because she just doesn’t give a fuck and Danny Sangra because he has a hairy face and he’s a bad ass.

DC:Tell me about something you love dearly and why you love it

FAJ:Carys, our intern, because she’s welsh.

DC: Do clothes maketh the man/woman?

FAJ: No, clothes maketh your style and reflect your personality, but they don’t make you who you are.

DC:  Money, power or sex?

FAJ: Power, because money and sex are part of that package.

DC:Tell us about your new collection

FAJ: The new collection is called ‘Vaniloquence’ which means vain or foolish talk…which to us is our interpretation of fashion at the moment. The collection is more grown up, but without losing the humour of our last collection (I Hope You Die Soon). Fashion is just fashion and its fun to experiment with.

Its still designed for an adrogenous and unisex audience, its dark and polished yet grungy with a sporty silhouette. Pieces are intricately constructed using materials such as corduroy, knit, mesh, ghetto net, leather, tapedeck, denim, waxed cotton, jersey, power net and lycra.

DC:Why did you decide to start a label?

FAJ: We didn’t wanna work in Costcutter, innit.
